Embark on an authentic journey where you will experience rural life in the Ecuadorian Andes as the chagras, the legendary horsemen of the mountains, do. The Cunu Horseback Ride invites you to explore the chaquiñanes, crops, and traditional trails surrounding the Hipolongo Hacienda on a relaxed ride full of living history.

Along the way, a native guide will accompany you to teach you about ancestral agricultural practices, show you farm animals, and share with you the secrets that the chagras have guarded for generations.

Detailed Itinerary

  • 9:00 a.m. – Welcome in Quero

Our guide will be waiting for you by the fountain in Quero's central park to welcome you and accompany you to the hacienda.

  • 9:30 a.m. – Start of the horseback ride

Once at Hacienda Hipolongo, we will prepare the horses and give you a brief talk about the activity. Then we will start the route through farmlands and traditional paths, where you will learn about the agricultural practices of the area and see farm animals such as cows, sheep, and poultry.

  • During the tour, our guide will reveal local farming techniques, stories about the chagras, and interesting facts about Andean flora and fauna. You will also be able to interact with local residents, learn about their routines, and perhaps even make new friends among the mountains.

  • 12:30 p.m. – Return to the Hacienda

Upon your return, we will welcome you with a typical regional lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients. Then, you will have time to relax and enjoy the hacienda's facilities before ending your visit.
